Sponsoring a Pilgrim
Sponsoring a Pilgrim on a Walk to Emmaus or Face to Face Encounter is a committment that should not be taken lightly, as it should ensure that your Pilgrim derives the most spiritual benefit from the Walk or Encounter.
Sponsorship involves:
Selection of Pilgrims
Emmaus is open to members of any Christian denomination. It is intended for the development of Christian leaders who:
*Are members of a local church.
*Have a desire to strengthen their spiritual lives.
*May have unanswered questions about their faith.
*Understand that being a Christian involves responsibility.
*Are willing to dedicate their everyday lives to God in an ongoing manner.
Sponsor Support BEFORE and AFTER the Walk or Encounter
As a sponsor, you agree to:
*Pray for this applicant;
*Discuss the Walk or Encounter with his/her family/friends for appropriate support, encouragement and care for them before, during, and after the Walk or Encounter;
*Collect necessary letters and paperwork prior to the Walk or Encounter;
*Commit to take care of the Pilgrim’s obligations and family’s needs during the Walk or Encounter weekend;
*Arrange for transportation to and from the Walk or Encounter site;
*Participate in Sponsor’s Hour, Candlelight and Closing;
*Attend Pilgrim’s Orientation with the Pilgrim after the Walk or Encounter; and
*Help the Pilgrim attend Gatherings and find a reunion group.
